An interesting story of four bad lads …
You can't help thinking about democracy these days can you. How long's it been around I asked myself. Did a bit of research and here is a comparison between Britain and the USA. It is not designed to annoy all real historians out there, but likely it will. However, it does have something important to say about checks and balances.
The USA is 238 years old as measured from the year of ratification of the Constitution. Britain is 800 years old from Magna Carta 2 ... ha, you didn't know there was more than one? Neither did I.
I went for a thought experiment, where was England 238 years in from Magna Carta. Answer, not in a great place. But that is part of an interesting story of four bad lads.
What did I learn about checks and balances? They do have a habit of checking and balancing. And, they are there to stop you using hope as a strategy.
